Mike Igbokwe & Company, which was established on 1st June, 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria was in November, 2004 superseded by Mike Igbokwe (SAN) & Company. The Firm participated actively in the public hearings, seminars and works on the making of the Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act, 2003, (Cabotage Act) and wrote a lot of papers on different aspects of Nigerian cabotage principle and policy, which were used by the lawmakers in enacting the Cabotage Act. The Firm reviewed the draft copy of the Cabotage Act on the instructions of the Federal Ministry of Transport and as a member of the Ministerial Committee for the Implementation of the Cabotage Act set up by the Federal Government and Deputy Chairman of its Legal/Regulatory Committee, its Senior Partner took part in the drafting of the Ministerial Guidelines for the Implementation of the Cabotage Act, released in June, 2004.
